ThiruppAvai has 30 Paasurams and it is eulogised as GodhOpanishad since it summarises the sacred meanings of the Upanishads. Govindan, the object of ANDAL's worship in ThiruppAvai has blessed us with Srimad Bhagavad Gita, which contains 700 slOkams. It is also Upanishad Saaram and hence it is revered as GitOpanishad. Both GitOpanishad and GodhOpanishad belong to the noble category of adhyAtmika Saastrams enjoying Bhagavad GuNAnubhavams and the five VedAntic doctrines (artha panchakam) linked to our quest for Moksham.
The essence of ThiruppAvai is that ANDAL observed the month- long Paavai vratam to perform nitya kaimakryam to the Lord and gain the ultimate PurushArtham of gaining the Lord as Her husband. The month chosen to observe this vratam was Maarkazhi. She joined with the young gopa kannikais to observe this noble vratam.
This book contains the description of this vratam and the teachings of Goda in a conversational format.
During the observance of this Vratam, ANDAL considered SrivilliputthUr as the AayarpAdi in the north, the girls of Her birth place as Gopis and Herself as one of the Gopis and the temple of Vadapatra Saayee as NandagOpan's home and Vadapatra Saayee as Lord KrishNa Himself. This feeling state ( bhAvanai) ripened and led to the divine thirty paasurams of ThiruppAvai. ANDAL shows us the way to observe the Vratam in a spirit of Bridal Mysticism to gain the Lord's ParamAnugraham to serve Him forever at His Supreme abode.

The volume 1 of Thiruppavai – Goda’s Gita contains the first 5 pasurams out cof the 30 pasurams. The book reads like a good novel, not like a collection of commentaries gathered in an academic, text book kind of way. For this reason, this book is highly recommended to anyone including teens and children with a desire to learn about the sacred text called Thiruppavai which is the essence of the Bagawad Gita.
Not only does Swetha conveys the message in an entertaining manner, but she also covers the esoteric meaning of each pasuram in a separate section. The coverage of the esoteric meaning in a separate section makes the book flow smoothly. The book is further enriched with beautiful illustrations.
This is a “refreshingly different” book that is a superb compilation of “all that is best in all classical commentaries “of great Sri Vaishnava AchAryas of Bagawad Ramanuja Sampradayam.
Swetha has distilled the essence of lectures of the great AchAryAs. The energy, enthusiasm and efficiency with which Swetha Sundaram has constructed a fragrant garland of flowers from the Sacred garden of Vedanta following the sacred path of Goddess Godha is exemplary. The book is set in the format of ANDAL’s dialog with Young Gopis of Vrindavan on the sacrd Vedic teachings on Tattva , Hitam and PurushArtham as revealed to us by ANDAL for our upliftment.
I can't recommend this book highly enough. If you're interested in Hindu sacred Scriptures like the Bagawad Gita, you have to get this book ASAP. Young adults will just love this book!

We enjoyed reading this book and were amazed at the information packed in it conveyed in a very interesting manner. The Vedantic meanings are conveyed in the form of a conversation between Goda and her friends. This is written in the form of a novel. Can’t wait for the next volume!
